I've only just stumbled across these broadcasts on BBC Radio 4 which I
thought might be of interest.
Open Country: the presenter, Richard Uridge, journeys across Mull in the
company of the photographer, Colin Prior. Colin muses on his
photography, and on our relationship with wild landscapes. Various other
characters are interviewed.
I thought the programme was an excellent soundscape and commentary about
the island. Unfortunately, it is only available on BBC Radio 4 Listen
Again until 6:10am on Saturday 8 April when it will be replaced by:
"Richard Uridge takes the short ferry journey from the Scottish Island
of Mull to Iona, an Island steeped in religious tradition.
Famous for its religious communities, Richard is on a pilgrimage to find
the real heart of the Island: the indigenous people of Iona who keep the
Island alive as a living breathing landscape."
Broadcast 6:10am Saturday, repeated Thursday 1:30pm, and listen again
for the week.

Martin, and the Mull expeditioners Re the trip to Mull in May,
A long while back I agreed to give a talk in Stirling which has been
scheduled for the evening of Thursday 4 May (non-negotiable). Even if I
go to Mull for a few days beforehand, I'd be pushing it to climb Ben
More with you on Thursday and arrive in Stirling in time. Also, I think
I would rather miss out on the very inviting plans for Friday from a
distance rather than be so near yet so far...
So, regrettably, please remove my name from the list of definite maybes.
Disappointing - have a great trip and enjoy the celebrations.
I almost finished on Ben More, but I had to mop up a new Munro from the
last revision - An Stuc (Ben Lawers) on the way home (then in Holmfirth
- Martin, we were nearly neighbours, I think).
After a wonderful fortnight with continuously good weather climbing
hills in Knoydart, Glen Shiel and the Cuillin as well as Mull, I
wandered up An Stuc alone in the pouring rain. A bit of a hoolie might
have been good, but a few moments of quiet reflection on the top while
resisting the temptation to head for Ben Lawers to start again seemed
to sum up the whole game.
