I am planning to go down to DR, I would like to spend time MTBiking over there. Does anyone know of any MTB tours or have any information on the best places to MTB and rent bikes etc.?

From the post date you may be back already so you might know this:The Dominican Republic is on the island of Hispanola, the poorest place in the western hemisphere. Most people spend their day trying to survive and feed their families. There is little time for recreational biking.
Given the fact that recently there have been landslides, hurricanes and a malaria scare, I'm not suprised there is not much BMXing there.
