Timber exploitation in the region between Rijeka, Karlovac, Plitvice and Karlobag has created good forest roads which are most suitable for mountainbiking. Fit riders can settle on the coastline and make one day rides from 0 up to 1600 m.
Few National parks Risnjak, Plitvice, Sjeverni Velebit and Paklenica ensure the preservation of nature.
Good opportunity for the first time visitors is to take part in the traditional amateur MTB race Hillclimb to Zavizan from 0 to 1594 m. This year 2010 the date is Saturday June 19th. Information is enthusiastically provided by the organizer, Senj Tourist Office www.tz-senj.hr who shall shart receiving registrations im May.
