  1. Hello, I am a student of Medical Transcription just starting out and I do not have a medical
background in a professional setting. Can anyone tell me what information is generally dictated
    under the heading "Social History"?

I have looked at several online resources but cannot find much agreement. Some say "marital status,
    employment, tobacco/alcohol/drug use."

Others go into alot more detail and identify everything from occupation,

sources of stress, home situation/significant relationships, sources of support, and "other related
    relevant social factors".

Also, there seems to be potential overlap between Social History and Family History. What are the
differences between information in these two headings?

Can anyone please help me sort this out?

    Thank you.
