  1. Reversing the immigration flow slightly, my daughter is working in Mexico.
Rather than ship her road bike down, she decided to buy a bike locally [a GT
Avalanche hardtail mountain bike]. Here's her take after one day of true
    mountain biking:

some reflections i had while mountain biking for the first time this
    morning/afternoon:

why did my parents choose to raise me in the flatest area possible
[Chicago], making even small hills seem difficult?

there are no cars to look out for, but there are plenty of rocks.

    ouch, that hurt.

    pavement is, perhaps, underrated.

yes, i definitely live in the desert.

i'm glad my dad bought me biking gloves.

these tires were a great choice. [aggressive knobbies]

cactus need to stop being in my way and scraping my leg. ouch.

wow, that bug looks like a rock.

standing on my pedals while going downhill is hard.

going uphill, at times, is harder.

there's a cactus. there's me falling into it.

that wasn't so bad. after these spikes are out of my ass, this will seem
    even less painful.

i need to start working out more.

    this is really pretty.

    can we turn around yet?

this is so much easier coming back.

    are we done already?

    gatorade is delicious.

i should wear a skirt tomorrow. my kids will either think i'm hardcore, or
i got into a fight with a cat.

triple antibiotic ointment is my friend.

  2. Ohhh! Just wait until summer when it gets hot! Chicago will certainly
    start looking nice then! LOL!

  3. Lotsa great mountain biking in Mexico! It's popular down there too, so
she has a good chance of finding some riding buddies.
