Hi, I'm flying from Heathrow to Belfast on BMI and am taking my mountain bike for a weeks cycling. I don't have a bike box and was intending to just wheel it up to check-in and then take it to the oversize luggage area (as you would do with a set of ski's for example).
Questions: a) will I have to remove the front wheel and/or pedals? b) will I have to turn the handlebars in? c) if I do remove the front wheel what do I do with it? d) will I be charged excess baggage if over the standard economy 25Kg?
Partially deflating tyres - will do this anyway not a big issue.

Thanks very much for any advice on this.
This is what I do, ymmv.
Turn up with the handle bars turned and the pedals off and do not deflate the tyres, they may ask you to, they have never asked me to. When I flew back from Italy once I couldnt even be arsed to turn the handle bars or take the pedals off and I wasnt asked to, this is less likely to work in Britain. You will not be asked to take the front wheel off.
I don't bother pre-paying the extra 15 pounds that the budget airlines charge as you can pay it at the airport and most times I am not asked for it on the return leg, again, in Britain you will almost certainly be asked to pay.
