I need some advice. I'm a middle aged guy, 5'8" 150 lbs. I am beginning to
recover from a bad case of plantar faciitis. Other than this injury, I
think I'm a reasonably efficient runner. I have been wearing Asics Cumulus
shoes, which are rated as cushioning shoes. Should I consider changing
shoes before I start running again?

Should I consider changing shoes before I start running again?Way too little information. You need to figure out the cause before you
look for a solution. If you used a foot doc for your PF ask him. If you
solved this on your own you need a lot more homework. PF can be caused
by the wrong shoes but it can also be a product of running on slanted
surfaces, very hard surfaces or merely running too much for your level. The Cumulus is a light cushioned shoe and if you have some pronation it
may not be the best shoes for you. Go to a mom and pop store with and
old pair of running shoes in hand to show your wear pattern and see what
they think.-DougF
