  1. How the heck did that happen...?

And with a simple "Oh I think I can make it out there this Saturday" I
have officially committed/contributed more time to trail work or events
than I have done riding this year to date...

Two weeks from now I volunteer in some capacity at a "Bring a Friend"
type of event. What I'll be doing has not as yet been determined, but
it's all fun in the name of a mountain biking good time.

In three weeks I'm gonna be helping out at a Beach to Beach type race.
Heh-heh, as if I didn't suck badly enough on a bike, they have me doing
sweep on a Quad. I'll also be picking up the route markers. I don't know
how steep a grade a Quad can handle, but if it looks too much for me I'm
walking, the Quad can travel by the grace of God from there for all I
care. No comments on how I get *back* to my car though... "Drive this
thing all the way *back*? No [censored] way! I'll just show a little leg
and hitch a ride" CruNch! "That was my FOOT [censored]! Don't you speed
    away!!!"

It all pertains to mountain biking in one way or another, but aren't I
suppossed to be on a bike every once in a while?

    Yes!!

I know a guy that used to work for the local parks, and was in charge of the
trail system. Last time I talked to him, he was burnt out on mtb'ing in any
way, shape, or form. It's good to volunteer, just be careful not to get your
plate so full, you get burnt on this great hobby/sport.
