I wanted to let people in this group know about an interesting new product that is more than a
pedometer. It is a wearable armband that measures steps (accelerometer), but also measures more,
like temperature, heat, etc. It provides a more complete solution than pedometers to people
interested in weight loss by telling you how many calories you are burning both when walking, when
resting, or when doing non-ambulatory exercise (like weight lifting or biking). It is more expensive
than existing pedometers, but it might be of interest to some people here. The product is called
HealthWear and is marketed by Roche Diagnostic. If you think this might interest you, you can learn
more at healthwear.comhealthwear.comOpen ↗ . If you want more technical information, you can probably find it
here bodymedia.combodymedia.comOpen ↗ .
Disclaimer: I don't work for Roche but I do work for BodyMedia. I am not in marketing or sales. I do
algorithm development -- basically figuring out how to get useful information off the armband (like
number of steps or calories burned). I have monitored this newsgroup for the past two years (or so)
and have participated sporatically. I will be happy to answer any questions that I can.
Sorry if you think this is spam or inappropriate. I'm posting simply to provide information.
