Subject: Urgent - cyclists hit while using cycle facilities
Dear Right to Ride Representative,
URGENT REQUEST! ALL REPLIES, PLEASE, TO YANNICK READ, OUR MEDIA OFFICER
– [email hidden]
The Sunday Times is doing an article for this Sunday’s edition all
about the problems which the Highway Code would cause for cyclists if
the version now laid before Parliament goes through unamended.
They want to know of anyone who has been injured while using a cycle
facility – to make the point that using cycle facilities can sometimes
be more dangerous than deciding not to use them. They want this by
later today.
If you have been involved in such an incident yourself and would be
happy to talk to the Sunday Times about this, or if you know of any
cases (either based on media reports or cases you know about
personally), please could you respond to Yannick (email address as
above). N.B. We have already mentioned the obvious one of Vicky
McCreery’s death on the cycle lane on Blackfriars Bridge.
The journalist’s copy deadline is the end of this afternoon – so
please respond urgently if possible!
Best wishes
