Today's London Lite; "Crackdown on selfish cyclists" headline which is the usual article about the commendable Share the Roads initiative (can't they find something more newsworthy like a new Prime Minister ?). But only on the second page does it go on to mention that mobile phone abusing drivers are also in the firing line.

Anyway, the authorities will be out in force on Tooley Street near London Bridge today. Would be interested in any eye witness reports on cyclists being stopped, and how many drivers are being stopped for being in ASLs or using a mobile phone.

Our local paper had a full page colour ad for Share the Road exhorting cyclists to stop at red. I thought it was being biased until I turned the page and there was another one just as big asking drivers to give cyclists room.

Is that the TfL one with the cyclist pictured in an ASL he/she cannot legally have got into on account of the first stop-line? I keep meaning to correspond with TfL, suggest they get someone that actually knows something about highway law to check over their propaganda before publishing it.

And no sooner had I spotted the article than I saw a thelondonpaper van driving along in themobilephoneabusingdriver mode; impressed though; they published my letter about it. And according to London Lite the initiative at 5 secret points around town clobbered far more motorists than cyclists who in the main were shown to be "curteous and law abiding"
