Watching a programme on National Geographics last night was quite
fascinating.
There was a search for the Carpathian (in case I'm not spelling its
name correctly, its the ship that first came to the rescue of the
Titanic survivors, in spite of being furthest away at the time. Later,
about 80 years ago it became a victim of war and for the search team it
rested approx. 14 hours south south east from Baltimore, Ireland)
There's so much stuff floating around down there!
The camera-sub travels through it and it looks less variable than
slow-motion rain. Sometimes it goes a bit crazy because the sub
reverses. At one stage, the sub picked up a piece of tableware. A sort
of gravy holder. As the camera descended, there was a huge contrast
between the apparent stillness of the waters when looking at all the
floating stuff around, and the obvious variations in currents that
where flicking the gravy-holder around the place quite dramatically.
