We are planning a 7 day cycle trip from Montpellier to Barcelona, one way. We have a vague route drawn out by Google maps (walking) and just want to make sure that we are not going to miss any particular points of interest on the way.
Has anyone cycled this route or a section of it before and can give some recommendations?
A few years back I cycled from Perpignan to Barcelona.
Montpelier is further north than Perpignan so you have to cover a longer distance than I did. The coastal route from France to Spain (Barcelona) is recommended. Perpignan - Collioure - Cerbere - L'escala - Saint Feliu -Calella - Mataro - Barcelona, was the route we took. Picturesque, warm Costa breeze. Couple of tricky climbs but nothing insurmoutable. Roads are generally good and the traffic is quieter on the minor roads.
Of course, Montpelier is further north than Perpignan. If you take the coastal route you'll be avoiding the likes of Bezier.

Cheers!
If one day you plan to cycle Montpellier - Geneva, do not hesitate to let me know, I am planning a 4 days trip there. 🙂 Ced x
