I don't know much about bikes, but - I'd like to get my father something so he can commute about 10k to and from work several times a week. I know he doesn't want to deal with flats, and he'd like something sturdy, which is why I've been leaning towards a hybrid. I've read that Mongoose makes good entry-level bikes (I also don't want to spend more than a couple hundred dollars). Does anyone own one of the Mongoose Crossways - has it been worthwhile? What are you getting by upgrading from the 250 to the 350 to the 450? What distinguishes a hybrid from a "commuter" bike.
