Molybdenum dry lubes

I have used molybdenum as a lubricant in an industrial setting where there was a lot of paper dust and something was needed that wouldn't attract all of that dust into bearings, on shafts etc...you know, sort of the same things bikes are made of. Using it specifically on a chain though, I think would be difficult to get it into the places where lubrication is needed.

You need a wet lube to get into the rubbing surfaces of the chain. If you live in a wet area get something sticky like pedros, if it's not very wet something less viscos like tri-flow.

The dry moly lube works great on the chain, provided you get it into the chain and not just on the chain. You must remove all other lubricant, starting with a perfectly degreased chain. 3 washings with odorless paint thinner works well if you let it dry for a few hours before lubing.

The downsides are it has almost no corrosion protection and is useless in wet or muddy conditions where it washes out. The chain will rattle and it might make shifting a bit sketchy.
