I have an 80's Guerciotti with aero-style Modolo brakes. After taping the handlebars, I came across some new Modolo anatomic 919 gum hoods. The current white rubber hoods are shot.
I'd like to put the new hoods on, but don't want to take brand-new Cinelli cork tape off to do it.
Does anyone know if it's possible/practical to put the hoods on without taking the brakes off? Will they stretch far enough to be put on 'from the front'? Is the typical human hand strong enough to do that?
Also, do the gum hoods last any longer than the white ones?

Warm them up with a hair dryer, then pull and stretch. That's the way they are supposed to go on.
