Oh, man, you got me good. That really stung. The tears are welling up you
hurt me so bad. You set me up so skillfully, then you just knocked me down.
I never saw it coming, I didn't suspect a thing. I let my guard down for
one moment and you struck like a warrior of wit. You are the Master,
roose, the MASTER. No one could have done it as good as you.

    You putz.

    x-no-archive: yes
I don't have any problems with the newsgroup anymore. I just use a good
KillFile (Fix News {it's free}) and soon as I see the silly stuff ..I
just kill the sender .. [censored] .. soon as another one pops up .. away they
go ! and I'm back to about 80% real stuff ! I consider this newsgroup
just too valuable to let that back and forth childish patter run me off
    !
    just my .02 worth 🙂

I just use the old fashioned "ignore them" strategy. You don't HAVE to read
the posts for every header in the group. Killfiling a sender only works
until someone replies to that sender....then you get the reply, usually with
the original post stuck in there somewhere. Unless you killfile the
respondant, then you're okay until a third person gets in on it...

You may even miss on-topic posts by killfiling individuals. Dr Chung has a
tendancy to respond to most of the flamebait that's dangled in front of him,
usually feeling the need to defend his character. It is, of course, his
right to defend himself. However, the only way to get rid of all the excess
threads is by killfiling Dr Chung, and then you would miss the good
information he provides when responding to an actual cardiology topic.

Some killfiles let you remove cross-posted headers. Again, you'd miss the
occasional honest question by someone posting both here and sci.med, say.
You can kill (or ignore) an entire thread, but the subjects change so much
that you're still adding things to your filter every day.

No, I say the best way to handle it is to simply ignore the trolls. They
    will eventually go away.

    Andrew
ps: I may have an advantage in that I have cable-internet so it takes only a
split second to download the headers. I know that for dial-up it's a pain to
    download useless headers.

Aside from the information Chung provides which seems to be accurate
what kind of real doctor would even bother with all the flames and
trolls. I can see wanted to help people (which is very admireable)
but to then spend most of your time in silly flame wars is
incomprehensible for soemone with a Phd and whatever credentials he
    says he has.

Makes me wonder if he's not some well informed kook.

I don't think it should be a cardiologist doing the moderating. There skills
are best used elsewhere. The job is more akin to the guard at the ER door who
makes sure trouble does not break out and occasionally helps patients himself.
I would volunteer if there were a few others - i.e. there should be several
    moderators, not one.

Incidentally, I subscribe to about 30 groups and the only one remotely as bad
as this is in the political arena.

It would probably have been quieter if he and roose (a.k.a. mu) didn't
invite folks from the al.support groups by crossposting so much. Dontcha
think? After all, it was mu/roose that invited so many of us to your
little corner of usenet. Perhaps you should tell him how you feel.

I wouldn't be inclined to participate in a moderated ng. Imho, moderation is
very easily censorship. I do my best when there is free speech.

Do what with your so-called degrees? Respond to every flame there is
and strike back with witty BS to trolls?

I used to think you were a pretty cool guy, helping people and stuff.

Whatever credibility you had with me (not that you care or even should
care) has vanished since it is your responding to every troll and
flame directed your way that has caused this NG to turn into pure
    [censored].

Why do you waste your time on this stuff if you really are who you
    claim to be?

And what's with this religious preaching in a cardiology group? From
an an acclaimed physician no less?

Like I have stated I used to support you bigtime, but I suggest you
take your wise words, ego and propensity to fan flames somewhere else.

Maybe there is a WWF wrestling NG that might suit your personality.

GIVE US BACK OUR OLD INFORMATIVE GROUP!!!!!!

And what legit health care professional (as esteemed as you claim to
be) would be drumming up buisiness in the absurd manner you seem to.

I am asking the questions (as others have although they too seem
moronic mostly) and I expect no answers, just more
troll/flame/Christianity/self promotion which has reduced this group
to a curiosity, not a helpful cardiology NG as it used to be.

Man, I only WISH he was witty. He's gotten quite droll, you know.

    Quoted message said:

So did many folks in the alt.support groups when they first saw him. It
didn't take too long for him to prove otherwise.

    though.
