  1. If I’m able to make it to Moab my arrival at and departure
from SLC will be limited to Jet Blue flights. (I have a free
    round trip voucher).

This means I will arrive Friday morning at 12:40 am in SLC
and will depart SLC Sun Mar 28th at 11:40 pm.

Kind of a crazy schedule, but hey, it's free! Jet Blue has
limited flights into SLC and only one flight leaving per day
    back to NY.

I would like to look into the caravan thing from SLC to Moab
    or organize something myself.

Will anybody else be arriving/departing at roughly the
same times in SLC who would be willing to pitch in with me
on a rental/gas? It looks like a car rental+gas will be
    under $200.

I know that John Foss and and Nathan Hoover mentioned
organizing something last year. I'd be happy to join in with
any other arrangements or have others join with me,
depending on timing. Because of my odd travel times, I'm not
sure if I will overlap with others in SLC.

  2. Last year Nathan and I each rented a van, and teamed up with
a group totaling 10 people. It worked out pretty nice, but
it was tough to coordinate all the flights, and one group
had to head back to SLC pretty dang early on Monday.

This year we're being lazy and just sharing one van between
the four of us. Four people is recommended if possible,
which leaves the whole rear area for all that luggage. Five
in each van last year was a tight squeeze, with stuff tied
    on the roofs.

We can help people coordinate together if they want to group
up on additional vehicles. Joe, you'll have to leave pretty
early on Sunday to ensure getting back on time, which may
cut into the Sunday ride, though we don't know the details
yet. For a 11:40 flight, you'll probably want to be driving
away from Moab (not counting dis-assembling and packing up)
by about 5:30 at the latest. We got back to SLC in about 3.5
hours last year, but that was in the morning and you may not
be so lucky with traffic. Got to allow the usual time for
car return and airport hassles as well.

At that, 5:30 isn't too bad. We've just decided to take it
easy and go home Monday, though that kills a day of work.

Anyone who wants to fly home late Sunday night or otherwise
is encouraged to write in here to get organized. I can put
up the rental car infor we're going to use if people are
interested, plus the place we're staying, if they still
    have vacancy.

I know Carl Hoyer, Kris Holm, Tom Holub, and probably others
    are interested.

  3. Thanks John,

I'll wait and see who's interested.

Most likely, I'd be willing to wait for others to arrive in
SLC on Friday morning in order to share a ride. Though on
the return to SLC, I'll have to leave by 5:30 or
    thereabouts, as you suggested.

What car rental company do you use?
