I read your paper on training with power and it seem that you advocate a simple 40k TT test as the most effective way to determine MLSS. It seems second best is applying a cofactor to shorter TT's.
Do you think there is any place for lactic acid based testing? I have read some protocols based on precieved race pace, how do you feel about those? Is there a protocol you favor?

Lactate testing has its place, but all things considered I'd put it relatively far down the list of ways of determining your maximal steady state power:
