IRT cycling the Mississippi, there are actually two routes between St Louis & New Orleans, the
Mississippi River Trail (MRT) and Adventure Cycling's Great Rivers Route.AFAIK, Adventure Cycling offers the only viable route between Itasca & St Louis..
For detailed info on the route between New Orleans & St Louis, I recommend "Bed, Breakfast & Bike
Mississippi Valley" which I wrote a couple of years ago and had published by Anacus Press.Lally, Dale V Jr. "Bed, Breakfast & Bike Mississippi Valley" Anacus Press:2001 www.anacus.com
I started out in New Orleans and developed a route to St Francisville. From there I followed the
Adventure Cycling route to St Louis. If you decide to do it, I highly recommend my alternate route from St Louis down the east bank of
the Mississippi to avoid those horrible Missouri hills. You will pick up the Adventure Cycling route
near Kaskaskia IL.HTH
