  1. Hi all,

I have recently bought into the Powertap system and logged six rides to date.

One thing I have noticed about the system is that every ride I've done, there is always chunks of HR data missing. It would appear the cheat strap either stops transmitting or the receiver loose the signal. I always moisten the strap before I strap it around my chest to ensure a good connection.

Has anyone that uses the system had this same type of problem? I never had this type of problem while using my Polar HRM.

Any comments on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  2. The wireless HR receiver seems to be the flimsiest part of the PT system. The HR receiver is in the computer head and is completely independent of the other data feeds. Assuming you have checked your batteries in both the chest strap and the computer, you may have to replace your computer. It's no big deal. Just call Saris and they'll send one out the same day. You can return your computer after you receive it, so you're not without your PM for even a day. Total cost is postage. They'll do this repeatedly for the duration of the warranty (1 yr). BTW, you may want to transfer your total mileage to the new computer (in the setup functions). That is helpful when it comes time to change the batteries in your hub. The recommended replacement interval is based on time (obviously), but you can estimate time from mileage.

    Thanks RapDaddyo,

I'll try replacing the battery in both the receiver and transmitter before contacting Saris. I had really considered this because the system isn't that old.

Do you still have the Polar speed transmitter on your bike? The Polar speed transmitter interferes with my SL's HR signal but only sometimes.

Also, are you losing only HR data? The infamous coasting vibration issue can cause all data to drop out. If you're still recording power and speed during that time then you're OK.

Nope no I sure don’t. My Polar is a n old school Vantage Night Vision.

As for costing and vibrations all the data seems to be there. Today’s ride was the worst yet. I replaced the batteries in both the Tx and Rx and still get the same results. I'll be calling Saris first thing tomorrow. 🙄
