missing a tiny tiny Avid brake part

I'm putting a bike together and digging through a box of parts I find my pair of Avid SD-5 brakes,
barely used. However, one of the calipers - or the bushing in it - is missing that little 2.5mm wide
(or about) pin that goes in the stopper hole in the brake boss on the fork. I don't know if anybody
knows what I'm talking about. It must have fell out while being thrown around in the tool box for
months, I don't know. Now I have a perfectly good Avid brake but I can't use it because it's missing
this tiny pin (smaller than a bike chain pin). I looked up and found a "Avid Ti Single Digit Brake
Kit" which has 3 ti bolts and 2 bushings, but of course, no pins. Anyone know where I can find one
of these damn pins? Well, I just thought I'd ask.

I remember myself a a few friends went on holiday and one of us managed to lose the exact same part.
Fortunately, we had a drill bit of exactly the right size lying around, and just cut a bit off the
shank of the bit.

Araldited it in there and it works a treat.

either that or find a friend who can just use a lathe to make you a new one....

These should all be the same size, Avid or not - otherwise some brakes wouldn't work in some frames
- so, either get one off another caliper you have lying around, or go to your friendly LBS, where
hopefully you have a good relationship, and get a 5-year-old rusty filthy Dia-Compe out of their
parts bin for a buck and pop the pin off that.

Sorry that sentence was so long.

Maybe the thick end of a spoke will do?

Try calling Avid directly and besides identifying the part for you, they might drop one into the
mail. A little 2.5mm allen screw came out of my Avid mechanical disc & they sent me a replacement
for no charge(Great product & support). (303) 762-9353
