Before the teens flee the nest - thought I'd take up hill- walking/walking again. Plus thinking of taking up a dream of kayaking/canoeing - native of Argyll - so it's in ma bones - but based in Cambridge area. Are there any groups around I could join in with at learner level again I fear.

First of all - Hi to everyone on the NG - it's my first post here.
Have been heavily involved in kayaking and mountain biking for the past 10 years or so since settling down after leaving the forces. But now getting back into my first outdoor pursuit - hill walking. And I must say it's great to be back in the hills again. It's just a pity I'm living down south when all the great hill walking is 'back home' in Scotland!
Anyway - to answer the query about canoeing / kayaking I'd strongly advise getting in touch with a BCU affiliated club. The main BCU website is bcu.org.ukbcu.org.ukOpen ↗ and clubs in the Eastern region are listed at bcu.org.ukregionseastern.htmlOpen ↗ Most clubs welcome beginners - of all ages regardless. If there's nothing local to where you are contact the Regional Coaching Officer (RCO) - also listed on the region page - who will be able to help / advise you I'm sure.
