Michael chose to take his dad for a ride today, the Reading CTC leisure ride. 30 miles, just right
for a quiet Sunday trundle.
We fitted a rack to Michael's bike so he could take a few odds and ends (actually so Daddy could
ride his recumbent, which has no pannier rack and only carries a limited-capacity Ortlieb bike box).
It's double eyeletted but has no rack braze-ons (odd), so I used P-clips to fit the Nimrod rack
which up until now has been on the Trail-A-Bike.
His front brake bent last week, the bridge thingy sprung open leaving no front braking (scary). It
was a Tektro one, and this is the second time it's done it, so I also replaced that with a Shimano
Deore one.
The bike is still a good fit for him, he is a large nine-year-old. It will probably do at least
another year yet, which is great. It's a Dawes Kokomo Junior (24" wheel) with no silly cheapo
suspension nonsense; it works well.
