Michael Jackson

This is what I have to say about Michael Jackson.

"Off the Wall" is an excellent album and I enjoy listening to the songs from it.

He had a few hits, but so did many other pop singers. Catchy tunes. I bought a couple of his early 80's albums.

He did leave crotch grabbing on stage as one legacy, I suppose. That's something.

I'm sure many worthy but unknown people died that same day.

As an entertainer, MJ was at the top. But as a human being, he was far less impressive. Perhaps even arguably criminal. Regardless of his musical achievements, his personal conduct must be considered and remembered as part of his legacy. Sure, he wasn't convicted of anything, but neither was OJ for murder. Regardless, it's not normal for an "innocent" man to pay out a reported $23 million to the family of an alleged victim as part of a silence agreement and in order to not go to trial. Innocent people don't do this.

Would you allow your 10 y/o son to sleep in the same bed and stay at length in the house of a 40 y/o stranger who has been acused of other improper relations with minors? Not once, but numerous allegations. His celebrity status shouldn't negate him from the simple rules of society. Don't give me this "Peter Pan syndrome" [censored], it's simply wrong on every level. Guys like MJ and Polanski shouldn't be treated or viewed differently because of their wealth and fame.

BTW, I actually like his music. The pre-Thriller stuff anyway. The later stuff was worthless.

So now you need to have "personal or intimate knowledge" to have an opinion, or you are automatcally branded a "dickwad"? Well, it appears that just about everyone who has contributed to this forum is a "dickwad" by tonyzachary's criteria. Or is this just his opinion, which happens to lack personal or intimate knowledge?

Helmut Roole has achieved what he always sets out to achieve.....which is a bite.....f*#k he must be good at fishing. As fas as MJ goes Pedophile or not we wont ever know for sure, his music I wasdn't a huge fan of, maybe a different erra, but as far as stage performance he was a true showman!!

Get a grip, fella. MJ was an entertainer. What he does/doesn't do to sell more records is of no real concern of mine - neither is/was his personal life. I bet you got some dirt in your closet that you'd never let see the light of day as well.

Regarding the skin color issue - lessee, what do you have to say for those of "you" that go through all sorts of trouble to get tanned skin - does that disturb you as a white (presumably) man? LOL! You're silly with that comment...I'm comfortable with my Blackness and that's ALL that really matters. I don't take on other people's drama - never have, never will.

Why the heck should I care? I previously posted (and you should take the advice) that I don't take on other peoples' drama. Why? It's called minding one's own business.

Apparently you desire to keep your true identity a secret for some good reason, probably. You don't want people snooping on you via the net. You'd like people to mind their own business but you know they don't always, so you've resorted to using an anonomous screename to protect your identity.

I don't believe MJ was a child-molester. I believe MJ was a child in an adult's body. I believe MJ sought refuge from the real world by being as close to children (don't let your mind run in the gutter please) as he could. There are many, many more children that will attest to MJ's kindness and generosity towards them versus the number of accusers. MJ's kindness and generosity were taken advantage of by opportunists. Would I have slept in the bed with children? No. Why? Because on the surface it looks bad and can be construed into something sinister. Was MJ guilty of bad judgement - of course. Was it more expedient on all sides to settle the matter out-of-court? Any smart person would agree that it was in order to save (most importantly) the child and the mega-star from the negative publicity.
