I've got these buggers on several hubs (LX and Exage) from the early 90's. Every time I remove them to repack bearings I bend them some nomatter how careful I am, even with a sealed bearing puller.
My LBS can't find replacement parts (too old). Any ideas on replacing these things with rubber versions or something less prone to damage?
napa carries ealants-the trick is surgery skills to get thepiece back together without greasing the ways. forethought helps inside diameters are shimmed using a narrow strip of water jug poly: keep long for fingertip control, then cut. usa o ring if pssoible to brace up. keep braced with somethng until the goo sets. ask the counterman: he may have a goo that hold the piece together for all time!!
