Merckx Majestic or Litespeed Classic?

Slightly OT, but a couple of years ago, I was in the
Colorado Cyclist and asked almost the exact same question
comparing the Merckx to a Lightspeed. After looking at the
two frames side by side, and talking to the salesman, I
decided that the Lightspeed would have been a better bike
for me, even though at the time the Merckx was cheaper. I'm
sure there were other factors, but I don't remember the
details any longer.

But, in the end, I actually let them talk me into buying a
steel Tommasini instead. They were cheaper, had a *super*
nice paint job, and the ride was really good. I'm still
really happy with the Tommasini, and I still ride it almost
every day.

The Majestic uses the same down tube as the older 2001 -
2003 Tuscany. It starts out as a 1-1/2" round tube before
it's shaped into the semi-aero profile. In comparison, the
Classic uses a 1-3/8" down tube which will increase ride
compliance at the expense of bottom bracket ridgity.

In the end the difference isn't enough to matter in my
opinion. Get the one that fits the best.
