  1. I'm writing from the Century Road Club Association to let you know
that we expect to hold the Mengoni Grand Prix on the last Saturday in
August -- August 27 this year -- rather than in late September as in
the past. The venue will stay the same -- New York City's Central
    Park.

More details will be available on our website at www.crca.net in the
    next few months.

The Mengoni Grand Prix is supported by Fred Mengoni, a former racer
and long-time supporter of the sport in Italy and in the United
States. Mr. Mengoni was inducted in the US Bicycling Hall of Fame in
1994 for his tremendous contributions to bicycle racing.

  2. With any luck, I'll be able to finagle a business trip out there at
that time. Nothing like August in New York City to make you appreciate
    the west coast.

Race usually starts (in darkness) at around dawn to reduce the
likelihood of pedestrain incidents. Temps are pretty low then, and its
a gorgeous course. Be sure to show up with a wool jersey that has the
letters "Kunich" emboidered to the back of it ;-) Take a whack at the
Prospect Park race too and see how you fare against our local crew of
    Jamaican bike messenger types.
