  1. Dear Readers,

I'm writing a special report for the website
www.yourhealthconnection.com about the reticence of many
men to get help for their health problems. Experts say
this is a major reason why men live six years less than
women on average and face higher risk for the 15 leading
    causes of death.

I've spoken to several national experts on the issue,
including a U.S. Senator, but just as important is the
perspective of men in general. I thought this forum might be
the perfect place to solicit opinions, which you can offer
with total anonymity. If you're a man who has put off seeing
a doctor for a problem - any problem, from hypertension to
foot fungus - I'd enjoy hearing your comments. If you'd
rather not post them here, you may e-mail me at
    [email hidden].

I also welcome comments from women about the health
attitudes of men, since men often seek medical treatment
only at the insistence of their wives, girlfriends, mothers,
    sisters, or daughters.

Thanks very much already for your consideration, and good
    health to all.

    Regards,

    Joshua Tompkins
