It must be because I had a long lie in this morning and feel nice and fresh, but I got this working perfectly first go this morning. Now downloading routes from PC/Memory Map to Garmin easily and also have Garmin showing my current position on map! We are off to Mill Cottage near Kincraig at the weekend and I shall certainly be trying out a couple of downloaded routes and some printed and laminated maps centred on the hills I want. Unfortunately I will not be carrying about my laptop :-)), but now I know the system works I'll be more tempted than ever to get a GPS/PDA setup with Memory Map on it.

I've seen 1/25000 OS maps on a PDA - brilliant.

Not tried plotting routes on it yet, tend to plot just the final waypoint and draw the route on a water proof map - using gps to ge the grid references. After my walks I download the tracks at plot on google maps - http://www35.websamba.com/lakeuk/walk.htm

Wow, that was clever! When I have a spare day or two, maybe the Christmas holidays, I will try to learn how to do that.
