  1. I wrote this a few months ago, but it still should be relevant now.

I was meant to be going home to my parents this weekend, but instead I
got a phone call from them on Friday night to say that they would be
coming down on Saturday to look in some bike shops.

My dad wasn't too impressed with this store and expressed his
indignation with the service with a lot of words starting with 'F' on
his way out, probably within earshot of the sales assistant.

We had seen this bike shop on the way up to City Rd. They had a big
auction on Sunday 19th June. It turns out the bike my dad wants is very
hard to get as the company has sold all their stock this year. The shop
was very busy and they offered my mum free tea & coffee while my Dad
rode off to test two different bikes (he got lost on the way and ended
up on Beach Rd.) After ringing around, they couldn't find the bike he
wanted and they said new stock wouldn't arrive until October.

This is a high-end bike shop that my parents wanted to have a look at
last time they were down, but it had literally just closed for the day
when they got there. It turns out that the type of bike my Dad wanted is
not being made any more, but they offered to build him a custom bike to
his specifications and even measured it out on the adjustable frame they
have at the back of the shop. They are going to get a bike and strip it
back and rebuild it for him. My dad happily paid the deposit and is also
going to get some proper riding shoes. Some of the bikes in this shop
cost a lot, but my Dad decided on the second-one up in the price scale
as he doesn't want to race, just have something good to ride on.

After sorting out the bike, we retired to the Pint on Punt for some
    drinks.

My dad rides all the time after work (starting from Drouin in West
Gippsland), but my mum just rides socially on the weekends now. Both of
my parents went on the Murray to Moyne earlier in the year also.

    Thanks.
