can you explain what the urgency of this is?

My understanding is that there is an 8 week consultation period once the
companies, Scottish Hydro-Electric Transmission Ltd and SP Transmission
Limited, make their applications to the Executive under Section 37 of the
Electricity Act 1989.

The applications have been 'imminent' for a while now but I haven't seen
anything to say they have been made yet. I've been waiting here ready to
publicise the Mountaineering Council of Scotland developing a response to
the application.
At the AGM this year, members voted to support a motion urging the MCofS,
its affiliated clubs and individual members to object to the proposed
Ullapool to Beauly and Beauly to Denny pylon lines.

The whole question is rather larger than described in the Cairngorms Revolt
Against Pylons (careful not to abbreviate) website. The plan involves
upgrading (enlargement) and in some places re-routing of the existing line
from Beauly to Denny, and also constructing a new line from Beauly to the
West Coast somewhere in the Ullapool area, to connect with the proposed huge
windfarms on Lewis. The latter line would be built across large areas of
virgin territory.

It stuns me that anyone could even think about building such things in such
places. What is the matter with some people? Money, I suppose, but if they
are that obsessed with it they need to see a psychiatrist.

If you wanted your name on the petition that they are going to hand in to
the scot exec they needed your comments by yesterday.

But as you say the consultation process has not truly started yet so still
plenty of time to object.
