Mechanical Disc Brakes

Avid rules the roost in the mechanical disc market. I have them and like
them and so do countless other people. Hayes mechanicals seem to be well
liked too, but no direct experience here. Just bear in mind that while
mechanicals seem very cost effective, they do not include a lever or
cables. Hydraulic brake sets do. If I ever find an excuse to replace my
trouble free Avids, I'm going to buy high end Hayes hydros.

Thanks for the reply. I went into my favorite LBS and sure enough they
had nothing but rave reviews for Avid mechs. So I tell them to throw a set
on. As per usual it is not that easy 🙁 I have four hole rotors and the
standard is 6 holes, so either I buy a new wheel set or they try to find a
set of 4 hole Hayes rotors. Of course I could ask them to order a
replacement part for the [censored] CODA's and live with the poor performance. Boy
I wish that I had better long range vision so that I did not run into this
kind of stuff.

The CODA's are F=171mm and R=151mm. I do not think that anyone else uses
these sizes, at least I did not see any while searching the web.

That's only part of the crapandfail curse. Their "innovations" and
proprietary junk suck.
