  1. anyone know of any good sites with info on how to tighten mechanical
    disc brakes.
    or maybe someone can provide some simple steps on how to do it.

    Mine have adjuster knobs on either side of where the rotor slides in ...
    twist one way to make 'em tighter and the other way to make 'em looser.

    All mechanical disc brakes have a fixed side and a side that moves. The
    Avid mechanical discs have adjustments for both sides. Most other models
    have one adjustable fixed side, and the other side is adjusted through pure
    cable tension. Use the barrel adjusters on the caliper or on the brake
    lever to get it just right.
