I am 53 yo, overweight, balding, incipient diabetic with neck, back, knee, elbow & hand trouble
(among other things). Parts of me are still excellent however. I loved to ride my mtn bike to work
(8 miles) but the pain made me stop. My bud bought a Rocket and when I saw that my eyes lit up.
After much considering and shopping I bought an R40. I've had it 1.5 years. I'm still kinda over
weight but getting better. My health is up, my pulse is waaay down, my endurance is up, my legs much
more muscular and I feel better. My paunch is smaller and is made of steel.
I looked at the cheaper bikes. I rode everything in sight. I am now kinda glancing ever once in a
while at a GRR or a TE. My LBS had a GRR with fairing & everything sell used for a nice price. He
sold it for $1600 but had offered it to me for $1400. My butt is sore from me kicking myself around
the parking lot.
I sure like my R40 but would like to go a mite faster, with maybe a hair more comfort. I am not in
love of the high-speed handling of my bike. It may be fine, some folks have reported they are
comfortable with it at 40 mph+ (Yeah, yeah, I cruise at that speed. NOT!) but to me it feels too
twitchy. I like the cargo capability of the TE. I am beginning to plan my 1st multi-day tour and I
think this is the reason for my eagerness to get a TE or GRR. Plus I think maybe my wife would ride
one where she won't get near my SWB USS R40.
