Mavic EX 729 Tire Size

  1. Thinking of getting the above rims but would want to stick a 1.5 tire on
    from time to time (revivers, sea 2 sea bike rides), mavics web site say that
    2.1 tire size are the lowest you can put on them. Do you think I can go
    lower than 2.1 if not why not ?, or if anybody has is there any probs.

    If you're refering to the EX 721, I've been using Panaracer Hi-Roads 1.5
    on these rims for almost a year without a problem.

  3. EX729 won't handle 1.5. It is too narrow for the rim and won't seat in
    properly. Just buy a new tire. You can buy a decent tire for cheap.
    Ex729 are good rims that can handle big hits and not heavy
