Mavic has discontinued the somewhat heavy but very durable Cosmos
wheels. The rims looked very much like open-pros? Were they the
same thing?

not quite. very similar though. pretty sure you can sub out the
28-hole open pro for the rear, but open pro's aren't available in 24 for
the front. not that i've ever seen anyway.but call your dealer. i've bought cosmos rims for repairs before -
maybe they are still supported.
