  1. hello-

i recently installed a MAVIC computer (WINTECH ES)... the one with the the pick-up sensor located in the wheel skewer.

well, the first ride or two- everything worked as it should. then on its first 60 miler- it went blank about 5 miles into the ride.

when i say "blank", i mean the unit seemed to be working- it just wasnt picking up any signal.

at a stop light, i tried to readjust it- to no avail.

now, two more rides on it, and both times- it crapped out almost immediately. ive figured out that i can re- "digitally pair" (those with this set-up will know what i mean) the unit on the fly... at which point the unit starts working again. but then goes off within a minute or so.

now- do i have a [censored] unit? or have others had this problem? is it a spacing problem(24" between pick up and unit)? is it picking up someone else's computer and getting scrambled?

has anyone had any other experiences such as this with theirs?

    any help- greatly appreciated.

    thanks.

just a thought- i tapped out the roll pin and put the sensor on a different skewer (still mavic, exact same dimensions, just a hair lighter)

could it be a different material and it needs to ground? i know this makes no sense... i'm just grasping at straws here.

    😕

  3. I would return it and demand a replacement unit. Not having heard much about the wintech, it sounds like you have a dud.

Try a replacement and see what happens. If the second one does not work, get your money back and get a VDO. Much better than the Polar CAD 200 that I have now, which is causing me a lot of trouble also! 😠

  4. I've had the Wintech for about a year now with no problems between the computer and skewer mounted sensor. I have had lots of problems with the wireless cadence sensor no matter where it's mounted. I'm about to give up on the cadence feature.

Funny that Discobean, on my Polar CAD200 HR & CAD I have no issues at all with the cadence, while the regular ' speedo ' functions just seem to switch themselves off every so often... 😕😠
