PARIS - Amelie Mauresmo has advanced in her first match of the week at the Open Gaz de France, defeating countrywoman Mary Pierce in straight sets. Mauresmo, the 2001 champion and two-time runner-up at this event, easily moved into the quarterfinals on Day 4 with a 64 63 victory against Pierce.
