  1. Sunday I stayed with my friend in Charlottesville and he took me to Masanutten to ride because of
all the rain in the valley. We rode the race course(only the 20mi xc,not the 40mi xxc)with only a
little interuption from rain.Let me tell you.....I give my hat off to whoever takes on this race!I
personally now have a new fond respect for the rocks, and my leg gash is proof of that.We climbed a
singletrack trail to the top before riding the course. It was about 1 1/12 mile climb,no problem just
a little winded. Then we rode some of the hardest rocky technical stuff I have riden in the
mountains.Lots of hike a bike sections. Then, the downhill section.Pretty smooth and definatly
rideable. The lower elevation singletrack was the funest.Lots of water crossings and fast.Wish I
could go back up this weekend and see the race.I want to see how the pros do on this thing!

Jeez, I was really wanting to do the xxc on a rigid ss. Maybe I'll just opt for the xc instead...

  3. Is this meant to be a "jab" at me,or do you really ride a singlespeed. "Nate"

No jab man, I really am gonna ride a ss. Riding the ss isn't the part that scares me, it's the part
that I haven't had the time to ride in the past two and a half weeks that worries me. Plus, I've
never ridden there, so I dunno what kinda gearing works better there. I just wanna stay under 5
hours tho. Too bad they don't have a ss class. Maybe one day they will evolve ; )

Nate -screw it, goin for the xxc
