As someone who never ran post-HS, and who upon turning 40 set the
marathon as a goal, I couldn't agree more. While my 1st marathon is
still ahead of me, I am running a little over 40 miles per week and I
feel better than I've felt since my 20s. And to my surprise, I enjoy
training. I say "to my surprise" because my only prior exposure to
running was in HS football -- running laps was punishment. Yep, my
quality of life has gone through the roof since I made the decision to
