  1. I've had some maple bagels from a Sainsbury Supermarket in the UK, they
were delicious. But they're hard to find and I'm looking for a recipe --
which, surprisingly enough, is hard to find. I've found a wholewheat one
but I'm looking for one made with plain flour.
    The wholewheat one is at
    http://www.online-cookbook.com/goto/cook/rpage/00038B

Also, I can get maple syrup easily, and maple flavouring, but I don't
think I can get maple extract if that is different from maple flavouring.

    Thanks.

This is a terrible idea of mine, thinking about food when I haven't eaten
for 2 hours (it's 9 am almost here) and can't eat again or drink until
after my knee operation which will take place this afternoon!

I'd be happy to send you some maple extract, Doug, just let me know
    if you want it.

Oh dear! Well it's well past afternoon where you are, I hope everything
went fine and your recovery is speedy.

Thanks very much, that's great! But I think I'll try maple flavoring
first, or the suggestion I saw of 1/2 tsp maple syrup and 1/2 tsp vanilla
    which sounds interesting anyway!

It went fine, I'm home now with some pain but a lot of that is the
bandage, which I can take off tonight.

  4. I just tried a recipe substituting maple syrup for the 3 tbs of honey.
They were nice, but just slightly sweet and no maple taste.
