How do you determine if a male athlete should be using the 20W/min ramp rate or the 25W/min ramp rate for a MAP test?
I recently saw a jump in my MAP, along with a significant weight loss, so my MAP was 6.3 W/kg using the 25 W/min ramp rate (up from 5.44 W/kg).
Thanks!
Unless you're in a program (like the BCF or Aus) where they require you to follow a standard protocol that could change based on age/ability, I'd suggest just sticking to the 25W/min ramp rate to maintain data comparability over time. IOW, you'll likely peak out at lower power with the lower ramp-rate so that could make historical comparisons less useful.
