Its good to see a manslaughter charge actually being used.
I'd hate to think its because he was a police officer.

Reminds me of the study that showed that the most effective
colours (in terms of collision prevention) you could wear
while riding a motor-cycle was whatever most closely
resembled the livery of the local constabulary.

apparently: if you want to live long & prosper, drive a

All perfectly true. I've no idea now of the reference, but I
remember reading the experience of an American motorcyclist,
who was tired of being continually cut up by drivers on his
ride to work, about 60 miles (this being America). He kept a
log for a month of how many times cutting up occurred, then
painted the bike bright pink, with matching leathers, and
also rode with the headlamp on: after a month, the result
was no change in frequency of cutting up. He then painted
the bike like a police bike, wore leathers that looked like
police leathers, and lo and behold, the cutting up dropped
to vanishingly point.

I am frequently tempted to try riding around with something
looking like police uniform, but since they all wear those
silly plastic h****ts, I can't be bothered. But I reckon it
would seriousl decrease plonker incidents.

Wouldn't the director be responsible for the condition of
the vehicle (whatever its condition may have been)? No idea
about the clerk.
