What do you runners do in Manhattan to get to the Park for a run? Grab a cab...the subway? I'd like to get there for a couple of training runs during an upcoming visit...my hotel will be on 53d Street. In the past I've taken the subway to a couple of different NYRRC races in the Park, but I'm wondering what others do...any better ideas?

I always take the train to get there. Having to wear your running clothes on the train trip is a nuisance, but bearable if it's a short trip. I usually change in my gym instead.
Depending on which avenue your hotel is on, you could just walk/jog there. Only 6 short blocks or about 500m, right ?

When I'm in NYC I stay in the Village, so I catch the green subway line (4-5-6) to 86th Street, then it's not far to the entrance at 90th and 5th. From 53rd, though, you're only 1/3 mile south of the park plus whatever east-west distance you'd go. Seems like an easy jog to me.

You're on 53rd STreet, the park begins at 59th. Just walk over.
Also, the training section of the New York Road Runners website (www.nyrrc.org) has an excellent map of the park with loops and mileage.
The outer loop, just over six miles, is a great run.
