  1. Last Friday night saw me zipping up to Onich for the weekend. The club was having it's annual
Christmas 'do' at the Inchree Chalets. Nice warm chalet, even nicer pub. The seven am reveille was
murder. Up to Mamore Lodge above Kinlochleven. We would need the hight gained to get all our Munros
done before dark. At first the light was a little murky but gradually the sky turned blue and the
sun shone down out of a clear sky for the rest of the day. Sgurr Eilde Mor was soon topped to give
us a stunning temperature inversion. The whole of Glen Nevis was full of cloud with just the tops of
the Ben, Aonach Beag and the Grey Corries sticking out of it. We also had a perfect Brocken Spectre
to entertain us while the party reassembled. Over to Binnein Beag. Lot of height lost but we still
had our inversion from the top. Down to the bealach where we had left our sacks and then a bit of a
slog up onto Binnein Mor. Freezing cold, fleeces, jackets and gloves on. Not enough snow to warrant
axes. Crampons just dead weight in the rucksacks. Air so clear you could easily pick out Crowberry
tower on the Buchaille. Over to Na Gruagaichean. Sun sinking over th horizon now. Temperature taking
a dive as we did , straight down the southern ridge, steep but easy going grass. Onto the landrover
track for dark. Shower into the dancing gear, three course dinner, lots to drink, scottish country
dancing, more to drin and so to bed. Best day on the hill this year.
