  1. I was riding back from swimming this morning and popped into Tesco to buy
some things for breakfast. I'd just locked my bike up outside the shop when
I was approached by a bloke who asked whether I was the cyclist he'd just
    followed in.

Bracing myself for a Bloody Cyclists rant, I confirmed his assumption.
However, he complemented me on my clear signalling, remarking that it "made a
nice change as so many people don't [signal]". A great start to the day which
was only slightly marred 10 minutes later by TwatInAnEscort who couldn't
possibly wait for me to get out of a short narrowing caused by parked cars
on each side of the road and tried to charge past anyway.

    Regards,

What's more interesting is that your positive experience of a motorist's
behaviour has gone un-commented upon, whereas other people's negative
experiences generate a whole new massive thread within 5 minutes of posting!

I've had same sort of comments from a few motorists over time, most often
    about how well-lit & visible I am.

I am reminded too of the time I was stopped at a red traffic light in town,
when I heard a 'beep' from behind me. It was someone I knew, in her car, and
she gave me a friendly wave. Same person later went on to moan at me about
cyclists jumping red lights - the fact that she'd just been waving to me as
I was in cyclist mode and stopped at a red light had not registered...

    Cheers, helen s
