The Macquarie University Department of Health & Chiropractic was
Highly Commended in the 2003 Millenium Project Awards

http://www.ratbags.com/rsoles/history/2003/2003awards.htm

Here is the text of the award citation:

Macquarie University has certain historical qualities which
distinguish it from other universities in Australia. It was the first
to introduce the US style Grade Point Average as a means of assessing
student's progress through their studies and to determine
qualifications for undertaking advanced study. It was the first to
encourage a broad interdisciplinary content in undergraduate course
construction. It had the first graduate school of management in
Australia. It has even awarded me a couple of pieces of paper to hang
on the wall.

Unfortunately, it also has the distinction of being the first real
university in the world to officially include chiropractic education
as part of the curriculum. If chiropractic was studied in the
psychology department as an example of a delusional belief system or
taught in the business school as an example of how to market a useless
product I would have no objection, but alas it is taught as though it
is real medicine with real science behind it.

I believe the Univerity of Bridgeport in Connecticut was the
first.http://www.bridgeport.edu/chiro/index.html

Solely your opinion, which I can understand since your livlihood is
derived from being a close minded skeptic . To quote one of your
previous posts, your opinion on this particular topic simply is ......
******** !

Actually, peter does not derive any part of his livelihood from his
skeptical endeavors. He is smart enough to know that a compensated skeptic
loses credibility.

Nice tactic calling a person with whom you disagree closedminded. However,
being closedminded is far preferable to being so open minded that your brain
has fallen out (no, I did not just accuse you of being brainless).

Yes, much of alternative medicine is just that. Many chiropractors profess
to cure all sorts of systemic diseases, which is ********.

I am proud of them, but that shouldn't stop me being critical when
they do something silly.

They both claim to have started in 1990 and both claim to be the
first, so I will let them fight it out. As 1990 started 15 hours
earlier in North Ryde than it did in Bridgeport, Macquarie had a head
start.

Is it? I must mention that to HP, Epson, Best Software and Microsoft.
They all think I work at something to do with computers.

I always love it when people without the courage to use identifiable
names have something to say about my opinions.

When an accredited University accepts a valid area of study and one
does not agree with them, yes they are close minded.

Nice tactic ASSuming that because even though I am a chiropractor I
have never professed this. I agree with you that any Chiropractor(or
any health care professional) that professes to CURE anything is
********.

I was not accusing you of this. I was pointing out that there are those of
your profession who are screwballs.

Also unfortunate is that many Chiropractors denounce proven effective methods
of disease PREVENTION, particularly vaccination. Additionally, some deny real
diseases and claim that all Psychiatric disorders were invented to profit those
in the medical profession. How very strange coming from a profession that
created Subluxations (tm) in order to have a nebulous, omnipresent disease
entity that all requires more treatments.

Sad, that.
