I have an old set of LX rapidfire shifters. The adjustment bolt on the shifters for the front derailer will not stay in, as the aluminum treads in the shifter are stripped.
Has anyone seen this happen before? Is there an easy fix? Or do I need to replace the shifters?

Do you mean the barrel adjuster on the cable? AFAIK there's no other adjustment bolt on the shifter. If the barrel adjuster threads are stripped, you may be able to add another barrel adjuster to one of the cable stops.
If you have the original push-push Rapidfire shifters, they were junk anyway. Replace them with the push-pull Rapidfire Plus, or something else.
