I had the pleasure to trying to remove an incorrectly seated cable in an 8 speed LX (1997 - 98 model) shifter. In the process what I feared might happen did.. POP went the circular spring, flying out across the garage. I've tried to put it back together. The circular spring seems to be in place, but there doesn't seem to be any click on shifting.
Does anyone know of a reference that shows to reassemble one of these??
